Hexham is a small market town in Northumberland, on the south bank of the River Tyne formed by the confluence of the North Tyne and the South Tyne at Warden nearby. It is a stones throw from Hadrian's Wall. 

Cycle, Run, Hike!

We are located directly on Route 72 for cyclists wishing to stay. There are also endless places to go for a run, and hike leaving straight from the property.

Hexham Abbey

A grade 1 listed building built in AD 674 with over 1300 years of history. Whilst in Hexham you can also visit the oldest purpose built Gaol, and visit one of our many cafes for refreshments (ask us for recommendations). Hexham is a 1.5 mile walk from the hut.

Hadrian's Wall

We are a stones throw away from Hadrian's Wall. There are many parts of the Wall to visit including Vindolanda.

English Heritage & National Trust

Much of Hadrian's Wall is English Heritage, extend your visits to Housesteads Roman Fort or Chesters Roman Fort. Close by are also National Trust properties such as Wallington Hall.

Kielder

Kielder water is a large man-made reservoir in Northumberland, the largest in the UK surrounded by Kielder Forest. It is an ideal place to visit for cyclists and walkers. Kielder is a 45 min drive from the hut. There is also the famous Kielder Observatory that does amazing night time events such as Introduction to Astronomy, Origins of the Universe and specific events for children.
